If you are traveling to Alberta from outside of Canada check the
documentation your country of origin requires for re-entry. Not that
youre going to want to go home! Important: New travel
guidelines for U.S. citizens come into effect December 31, 2006. Allow
adequate preparation time to secure any new travel document that you
may need for entry into Canada.
U.S. citizens: The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has announced that its new passport requirements will go into effect on Jan. 23, 2007. Click here to read the announcement. Please visit U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the U.S. Department of State's Passports page and read about New Requirements for Travelers. Note: This new rule applies to U.S. residents who are flying into Canada; they WILL be required to have a
passport to enter Canada.
U.S. residents traveling
by land do NOT yet need a passport. If you're traveling by land and you don't have a
passport, a birth certificate [original, notarized copy or certified
copy], plus
a picture ID card issued by a federal, state or local government agency
is
required. A voter registration card or Social Security card are not
considered
to be proof of citizenship. Children under 16 years of age do not
require a
picture ID. Visas are not required for U.S. citizens.
U.K. citizens: Please visit the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
