Welcome to Alberta!

Official clothing of NAFDMA 07 Convention
Or how to dress like an Albertan for our visitors from milder climates

Toque (knit hat for head) or scarf - It’s nippy if you want to go for a walk.
Headband – If you don’t want your hair to get mussed up by wearing a toque.
Mittens or gloves
Sweater and long sleeved shirts
Wear layers – The one thing we cannot guarantee is snow. Dress in LAYERS because February is chinook month and the temperature can fluctuate 10Ί - 15Ί C in a few hours. A chinook is a warm, dry wind that comes over the Rocky Mountains from the west. The temperature in the foothills can range from –11Ί C (12Ί F) to 0Ί C (32Ί F). Be sure to check the current forecast before heading out.
Waterproof shoes or boots
Warm socks – Wool is great.  Feet will get cold standing at tour stops and on the bus.
Heavy jacket or parka (windproof)
Swimsuit – The hotel has a pool and hot tub
Work out gear – The hotel has a fitness facility
Cowboy boots - We are in Calgary after all, home of the Calgary Stampede.
Sunglasses

What we Albertans have learned so far:

Yes, it’s winter and it’s not going to slow us down.  Alberta is built to operate sun or snow!

We are four season friendly.

Alberta is a province of extremes: flat prairie, rolling foothills and majestic mountains. We will experience it all.

Sunny Alberta

Bring your sunglasses. If we get lucky and have snow on the ground and the sun shines, it can be blinding. We want you to enjoy the view. The air in the Calgary area is very dry, so pack your favorite moisturizer and lip balm, too.

Ask an Albertan
Do you have a question about Alberta? We’d be happy to help you out.
