About NAFDMA
About NAFDMA
NAFDMA is a 501(c)6 trade association dedicated to nurturing
the farm direct marketing industry. Our members are farmers, farmers’ market
managers, extension agents, industry suppliers, government officials and others
who are part of the thriving farm direct marketing industry in North America.
Our members are involved with agritourism, on-farm retail, farmers’ markets,
pick your own, consumer-supported agriculture, and direct delivery. They grow
nursery and greenhouse crops, fruits, vegetables, Christmas trees. They raise
livestock. They make maple syrup and wine, pickles and cheese. They sell at
farmers’ markets or on the farm. Some have created the foundation for an
incredible farm visit, lasting memories, and traditions. We also have a growing
number of international members who are currently represented on the board of
directors by an at-large director.
One of NAFDMA’s greatest benefits is one that you can’t put
a price tag on: networking and fellowship. Our members come together each year
at the conference and on the Front Porch of the Back Forty to ask questions and
share ideas with each other. Our members aren’t shy, either. Our annual bus
tour is a showcase of members’ scrapbooks, photo albums and videos. The flow of
ideas—and the cross-pollination, as our executive director likes to say—is mind
boggling at times!
One of NAFDMA’s goals is to give members the ideas,
education and tools they need to increase their farm income. This happens in
the Back Forty, during the convention, through the newsletter and trade
publications that are part of NAFDMA membership. It also happens when one
member visits another. The ideas never stop flowing. NAFDMA’s Board of
Directors
NAFDMA is governed by a board of directors. These directors
are elected from seven different regions of North America. They meet at least
twice a year and are nominated and elected by NAFDMA members. The board
appointed an at-large director to represent international members.
