Northwest
| My Name is Eric Pohlschneider and I am a third generation farmer from St. Paul, Oregon. In partnership with my family, we own and operate French Prairie Gardens. With an Associates degree in horticulture from Clackamas Community College, I am the main grower and manage our core staff of permanent employees.
French Prairie Gardens is a 500 acre farm just 30 minutes from Portland, Oregon. Our farm consists of grass seed, flowering nursery and a variety of fruits and vegetables. Throughout the year we are well known for our Summer Strawberry Festival and Fall Harvest Festival. We also offer educational tours were we emphasize agriculture education to young people.
Another component of our business is our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) harvest and bakery box program. Harvest and bakery box consumers receive 18 weeks of farm fresh produce, seasonal scones, muffins, cookies, breads and pies. Our CSA program is just another way for consumers to incorporate a “farm experience” into their busy schedule.
I have been a NAFDMA member since 2001 and have had the opportunity to attend the past four conferences. Each conference has given me new insight on agri-entertainment, marketing ideas, new products and much more. Being a member has also given me the opportunity to develop strong industry partnerships that have been a tremendous help to our business. It’s the people that really make this organization so amazing.
As an incoming board member I look forward to bringing a variety of new ideas to the table. My direct involvement with my community, Oregon Association of Nurseryman, Pacific Northwest Direct Farm Marketers and the Oregon Farm Bureau will also help me be a stronger resource for NAFDMA and its members. If I can be of assistance please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.
