NAFDMA FAQs
Here are the answers to some Frequently Asked Questions
(FAQs).
What is farm direct
marketing?
Direct marketing is
selling directly to consumers—individuals, families, tour groups, and others.
It’s the fastest growing sector in agriculture. It’s being driven by family
farmers’ need for survival strategies and consumers’ growing demand for locally
grown, fresh farm products and traditional farm experiences. It’s all about
bringing together the public and the farmer.
Today’s consumers
are not only looking for quality products but also quality experiences.
Our members have developed entertaining ideas to attract more guests and keep
them on their farms longer.
How do I know if direct
marketing is for me?
That’s a great question. Direct marketing farm products is
not for everybody. You may want to read a book like Marketing on the Edge: A
Marketing Guide for Progressive Farmers.
It gives lots of background information about direct marketing, and it also
includes a checklist to help you evaluate your personal qualifications as well
as business factors.
Can I get insurance
through NAFDMA?
No, not at this time. As a member benefit, NAFDMA members
can access a list of recommended insurance companies via the Resources page in
the Back Forty.
How many employees can
I bring to the conference on my membership?
Your membership covers your farm. Therefore, anyone who
works for you can pay membership rates to attend the conference.
How do you get to the
Front Porch section of your Web site?
Unfortunately,
the Front Porch is now closed because it was receiving an overwhelming
amount of spam. As an alternative, we're now welcoming you to submit
your question or classified item for sale for our Classifieds & Questions page.
