Sightseeing in San Antonio

As you wander San Antonio, be sure to Remember the Alamo! This old mission is where Davy Crocket, Jim Bowie and others made their last stand nearly 170 years ago. The hours are 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Across the street from the Alamo is The Guinness World Records Museum,
Ripley's Haunted Adventure and Davy Crockett's Tall Tales Ride. Perhaps you’ll pick up an idea or two in Ripley’s Haunted Adventure.

You might also want to check out the Buckhorn Saloon & Museum. Enjoy a drink in a Texas-style setting. Imagine Teddy Roosevelt recruiting his Rough Riders or Pancho Villa (so it’s rumored) planning his Mexican Revolution. Experience Wild West edutainment when you explore the five museums: Horns, Fins, Feathers, The Hall of Texas History Wax Museum, and special exhibits.

Want to shop? Head over to Market Square. El Mercado features 32 shops arranged like a Mexican Market. Farmers Market Plaza features more than 80 shops.

For more Texas history, visit the Spanish Governor's Palace, which dates back to 1722. Officials from the Spanish Province of Texas once lived here. Note the Hanging Tree in the courtyard.

For more suggestions about where to eat and what to do, visit Texas Tourism, the San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau or the or the Best Read Guide San Antonio.

Join us for all or any part of our Convention.
